I’m Rachael, a photographer based in Oundle, Northamptonshire. I love capturing the stories of people and their connections to the land, animals, and each other. My approach is lightly-directed, warm, and grounded — highlighting real life and real moments.
Rooted: Women of the Land
Celebrating women who live and work in the countryside
The Concept
Women of the Land is a series of intimate, lightly directed portraits of women who live, work, and create in rural spaces. At its heart, the project is about more than photography. It’s about connection, heritage, and the quiet strength of women whose lives are rooted in the countryside.
The Vision
Each woman featured will bring her own story, role, and character to the project. Through photography and a short narrative, these stories will be captured and celebrated, each with a simple one-word title that reflects her world, for example:
The Farmer – working with livestock
The Equestrian – horse trainers or riders
The Handler – working with dogs
The Gardener - working with gardens and flowers
The Artisan – rural craft and food producers
Be part of the Project
I’m looking for women who live and/or work in the countryside, who would like to share a little of their story as part of the first features in the series and I'd be excited to meet women with a huge range of different rural experiences. The shoots are collaborative and relaxed, with gentle direction to keep everything feeling natural. You'll receive portraits and images of you in action, that you can use in your own business branding and you'll feature on my website as part of the project.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy being part of, I'd love to hear from you.
